I've altered the way 'things' are added into blog posts.
The main reason was to make it much simpler to add in multi-media - things like Video and Audio files.
This has all become much simpler recently, as a much nicer interface was developed for adding things to posts.
The concept is the same, but the way you do it is much nicer. I am sure you will all manage it without instruction, but if anyone is having defficulty, feel free to ask for help.
I've altered the way photo's and files are added to make it consistent and so that in future, files/images that have already been uploaded for one blog post can be displayed on another without uploading it again.
So, to add any type of 'thing' (entity) to a blog post, you go through the same process, no matter what it is.
I'll use a photo as an example.
To add a photo from your computer, click "Add new photo"
This gives you this form:
Choose the photo, enter a name (this is shown when you look for this photo later if you want to show it in another blog post), enter an "Alt" tag as usual and click the 'Create Photo' button.
Currently you have to add one at a time. I'm investigating possible solutions to allow bulk uploads.
To display a photo previously uploaded to the website, click "Add existing photo":
This will show you a list of all the photo's you can choose from:
Select the ones you want to display using the tick boxes and click the blue "Add selected" button.
NOTE: The "Add photo" button doesn't work at this point.
The process is the same whether you are adding a file or a multimedia file, with the following exception - when adding multimedia from your computer, you have to choose the type first:
Then click "Add new media".
NOTE: you can add embedded media (eg YouTube video) this way too.
When adding video from your own computer you have to use an mp4 file.
On iPhone's this is a bit of a pain as the std format is .mov. However, there are converter apps available. One that I've tested is "iConv". I have sucessfully converted an iPhone video and uploaded it, (though finding the converted file to upload was a challenge).
BTW - you can still use the button to insert media in your text...
There's the one to add emdedded media (such as YouTube)
and a new one to add media from your computer.
