New home
We managed to get all moved last week with the help of a small army of helpers - friends from here in Te Anau. Made us realise what a great community we live in - people we know, but don't really count as close friends, all pitching in to help in some way.
Gethin came over from Dunedin and was a huge help.
The new house is a bit smaller than the old one, with no garage (well, it does have a garage that has the steel framing up, but nothing else!) Storing all our "Stuff" is a bit of an issue.
There's a small outside shed, that Sam Huntington (who's an apprentice builder) spent many hours in, sorting out, putting up shelving, securing my workbench and vice, and basically making it into a usable shed. He even made a Heath-Robinson door.
The sun is out today, so it's time to start trying to sort out everything; we got finally moved in on Monday (public holiday) and Nicky and I have both been at work all week - yes I go to work now. Internet coverage here in the 'sticks' is pretty poor (good enough for email & general browsing - just) so I'm renting a little office in town. I've found it very good this week. It's far less distracting than working from home.
Just a couple of poor photo's to give you an idea of our views. The one into the sun is looking NE and the other SW.
This is where we are:
Google Map Bing Map (better aerial imagery)
I'll get some more photo's up soon
Burma!!
Haha! Just clicked the link to see where you are and it puts you in the Black Sea just off the coast of Romainia! You may want to amend it.
Burma indeed
Sorted it.
Thanks Doug.
BL*#@Y Google maps gave me a URL so complicated that when you clicked it, everything was ignored except 45º ! I eventually got the decimal long lat from Bing Maps and used that.!
It has to be noted that it's very rare I recommend a Microsoft product, but in this instance BingMaps is definitley better.
BTW
