We spent a long weekend last weekend visiting Maggie at the seaside. For those who don't know she has moved down to Teignmouth in Devon.
We had great weather and a wonderful time. We went for a few walks on Dartmoor and generally had a very relaxing time. On the Sunday we took a trip to Babbacombe just down the coast from Teignmouth. Babbacombe has a funicular railway down to Oddicombe beach rather like the one at Saltburn. There was something going on down on the beach so we went to investigate. We eschewed the railway on the way down but determined to catch it back up. We had a pleasant stroll down through the woods and discovered on the beach a strange sandcastle competition.
Very simple idea. Build a large sandcastle. then get the whole team to stand on top as the tide comes in. Last team standing wins. See the video which I uploaded to YouTube. As I said simple idea but strangely compelling. We must have sat for over an hour watching. Then up the funicular railway for a Devon cream tea.
Great way to spend a relaxing sunny Sunday afternoon.
