Paddle Burgeo
Kayak Burgeo
At the end of June I was working in Port aux Basques and Vivien was in St Anthony, we managed to synchronise both our work and that of our friends John and Irma Moores to arrange a kayaking holiday in Burgeo on the South coast of Newfoundland.
Search Dog Handler awarded.
Some of you will remember John Coombs.
He's been around a while in Search Dogs in the Peak District and we lived 3 miles from him when I was training Namche.
He's been given a well deserved award.

My Romance
Here is link to my latest recording, a jazz ballad called My Romance.
New home
We managed to get all moved last week with the help of a small army of helpers - friends from here in Te Anau. Made us realise what a great community we live in - people we know, but don't really count as close friends, all pitching in to help in some way.
Gethin came over from Dunedin and was a huge help.
The new house is a bit smaller than the old one, with no garage (well, it does have a garage that has the steel framing up, but nothing else!) Storing all our "Stuff" is a bit of an issue.
A busy time in NZ
May's turing out to be pretty busy.
Having the boy's birthday's in one weekend was convenient - we went through to Dunedin. We had a good weekend, went out for a meal on Saturday night and had a generally relaxing time.
Douglas has had quite a lot of orienteering too.
He went up to Christchurh at the begining of the month to enter the South Island Schools Champs. He did really well and got 6th in senior boys. Natasha - his mate from here - got 3rd in the girls.
Last weekend was busy for both of us.
Medway canoe trip and a couple of other notes
I thought I would make some attempt to bring everyone up to date with what Vivien and I have been up to. The trouble is I am not sure where to start.
Birthday bike ride
As the weather was so good for my birthday (21ºC and wall to wall sunshine) I awarded myself the day off work. Fiddled around for the morning (just a few work calls to deal with ) and prepped my bike. Tyres blown up, brakes work etc. - necessary as not been out on it for a while.
What a shed!
In the corner of our garden - the bit that used to belong to Joe - was a derelict outbuilding.
Painting & Papyrus pictures
I have had in the attic for the past 10 or so years a painting by Dad and a couple of framed papyrus which belonged to Mum & Dad from his time in Cairo. We are having a big clearout to make way for som home improvements and wanted to know if anyone wanted these before I take them to the charity
shop.
A small but important improvement
pealing.com is now using SSL - just like your internet banking does.
This means that your information can't be sniffed between the server and your computer.
This is recommended in modern times for all websites, but as we all have passwords we enter for pealing.com, then quite important.
