I have made the first steps. This entry was posted from the app as it is at present (just a skeleton) using an emulator. Basically, it just proves I can connect to the website back-end via the app. 20140605 20:20 - I've made some progress. I've got the app's main screen displaying a list of the most recent posts made. You can click on them. The content of the post doesn't show at the moment. You can comment on them, and if you are logged in and have the right permissions you can edit them (that's how I'm doing this) Decided to use this post as a bit of a development blog for now.
So... The Mini has (finally) arrived in Te Anau. It all happened in a bit of a rush. We went to Helen Dodson's (Tim Barrow's Mum) birthday, (not specifying age) and were getting ready to leave. We found Dad having a discussion with Pete, Tim's dad. They were discussing the possibility of bringing the Mini down from Dunedin on Pete's trailer. It all sounded great until we saw the trailer, which was already in Dunedin. It was pretty small! We got Gethin out of bed, (about 1:00 p.m.) and piled back into Pete's truck.
Just got down to Porthleven (top of the Lizard Peninsula - almost at Lands End). Ron was desperate to go away somewhere so Jude, Maggie, Ron & I have rented a cottage for a week. We are in the row of white houses down by the harbour. The view from our private terrace across the harbour is fantastic. The weather tonight was great after a long drive down here with the weather improving as we went south. We unpacked then sat on the balcony with our welcome scones, jam and clotted cream. Then we went for a quick walk around the village and will explore further tomorrow.
Gideon went to the barbers the other day. Not normally a big event for a ten tear old, but he hasn't had his hair cut for 7 years! So long hair is no longer the thing in Gids view so off we went. It took 2hours for stylist to cut his hair and Isis and Jacqueline cried when his pony tail was cut off, and he came out a changed boy! Isis has also had hers cut! See more later
I had a bit of trouble with uploading this post and have just realised I missed off the before photo so here it is[Edit] I've rotated the images - Roo
I have not looked at pealing.com very often on my HTC Sensation. I must say, Andrew, it works rather well, including the slide show. I'm even doing this post with it. Now all we need is an Android app.
I am in Milford Sound. The rain has been reasonably heavy - we haven't had proper rain like this for a few months. Since 0900yesterday, its been raining at around 10mm/hr - thats for the last 30 hours. It certainly makes the rivers and waterfalls impressive. This one is the only permenant fall visible from the the road on the way in.
Douglas also entered a SmallBore shooting competition on Saturday. He was very consistent, scoring exactly the same on all three cards, though not exceptionally high scoring. He didnt find out the result until the club shoot on Thursday, where he discovered he had come second. Consistency clearly helped! He even got a trophy, and, like Alex, bragging rights until he returns the trophy next year:)
